Kansas City Body Sculpting Procedures
Smartlipo® – Laser Assisted Lipolysis
Smartlipo® is an advanced body sculpting method that allows for the targeted removal of unwanted fat with reduced "down time." Minimally invasive, Smartlipo® uses much smaller cannulas (only 1 mm) than traditional liposuction. As a result, Smartlipo® causes less bleeding and trauma, is safer and gentler, and can be performed with a local anesthetic.
At our Kansas City body contouring center, Smartlipo® uses a small, high-powered laser to precisely sculpt the area being treated. As it melts fat, the laser's thermal energy tightens the overlying skin, often reducing the need for additional surgeries to remove excess skin. Smartlipo® is an outpatient procedure and usually takes one to two hours to perform depending on the number of areas being treated. Most patients return to normal activities the next day.
VASER Liposelection
The VASER® LipoSelection® system is effective in treating deeper layers of fat because it uses a patented ultrasonic technology to break up fat prior to removing it. This gentle energy source reduces trauma to the surrounding tissue, such as nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue, and means a faster recovery for you. VASER LipoSelection® can be used for advanced body sculpting on both men and women to improve the visibility of underlying musculature. When performed together with Smartlipo®, VASER LipoSelection® can help you get the best results possible.
Both VASER Liposelection and Smartlipo® are performed at our Kansas City liposculpture center using oral sedation in combination with a local anesthetic (‘tumescent' solution), so patients remain mildly sedated but awake during the procedure.
Tumescent Liposuction
A time-tested treatment, tumescent liposuction removes fat through a suction tube called a 'cannula.' A saline-based solution ('tumescent') helps to release the fat in the area being treated so it is easier to remove, and at the same time delivers some anesthetic. With tumescent liposuction, Dr. Zahorsky can pinpoint the specific areas of your body where excess fat accumulates, including such common problem areas as waist, thighs, upper arms, and abdomen.
Abdominoplasty
At our Kansas City body contouring center, abdominoplasty (also known as a "tummy tuck") is used to create a firmer, flatter stomach. In abdominoplasty, excess skin, fat, and tissue are removed through an incision in the abdomen. The procedure can tighten the abdominal skin as well as the abdominal muscle wall and eliminates some stretch marks and makes others less noticeable. After abdominoplasty, patients must remain inactive during the recovery period to promote healing.
Buttock and Thigh Sculpting
In women in particular, excess fatty tissue often accumulates in the thighs and buttocks, affecting not only appearance but often self-esteem. Body Lift (Upper Body & Hip)
Body lifts are often used to eliminate excess skin, cellulite, or fatty tissue on patients who have lost significant amounts of weight, and are targeted towards toning the upper body and hips. To be a good candidate for a body lift, an individual should have maintained a stable weight for at least three months – preferably six months to a year.
Body lifts require multiple incisions, and may be performed as one surgery or as multiple procedures. The operation is typically performed in a hospital under general anesthesia, and may take anywhere from [insert figure] to [figure] hours. Most patients spend one to three nights recovering in the hospital, and pain medications are administered to reduce discomfort. Dr. Zahorsky will provide a complete home care instruction list for you to follow once you are discharged. Post-surgery activities must be restricted until recovery is complete.
